An O’Shaughnessy holiday tradition! Katie McMahon’s gorgeous soprano voice was one of the things that made “Riverdance” such a sensation.
Katie has graced the stage of The O’Shaughnessy for over 10 years, delighting thousands, both young and old and becoming one of the theater’s liveliest holiday traditions.
Her ode to the holidays celebrates the season with a family-friendly program of traditional Christmas songs, stories and lively Irish dance.
Joining Katie, will be her talented band and singers, many of which are internationally renowned soloists in their own rights. Karen Mueller (autoharp, guitar and hurdy-gurdy), Zack Kline (fiddle and octave fiddle), Jane Cords O’Hara (cello), Marc Anderson (percussion), singers Jenny Russ, Graydon Royce and Everett Vass.
And the Corda Mor Irish dancers, freshly back from competing in the World Irish Dancing Championship, will be entertaining us all with their high stepping, foot stomping routines.
This year’s very special guests are the Center for Irish Music (CIM) Senior Ensemble. CIM is located in the Celtic Junction in St. Paul. You can learn a variety of instruments there ranging from fiddles to whistles, flutes, harp, guitar, bodhran and accordion. Tonight we are joined by CIM’s most talented students, who recently competed internationally at the Fleadh (traditional music competition) in Ireland.
We will have our very own traditional orchestra! Katie and friends will entertain you with Celtic carols, well known songs to sing along with and brand new selections from all over Europe and Scandinavia.
