In beautiful Xishuangbanna, a touching legend is told. A sacred white peacock once transformed into a maiden named Bailing. While wandering through the rainforest, she met a young hunter, Qingshan, and they fell in love at first sight.
But one day, Bailing vanished, leaving only a single white feather. Before Qingshan could react, a villager seized the feather and reported it to the shaman. Condemning love between a human and a divine bird, the shaman ordered Qingshan’s capture and prepared to burn the feather.
Heartbroken, Qingshan sank into despair—until a divine spirit appeared, drove away the shaman, and told him that only by becoming a bird could he hope to find Bailing again. For love, Qingshan transformed into a green peacock and began his search.
The rainforest was a paradise filled with carefree animals, and it was home to the peacocks. Yet Bailing could not forget Qingshan and lived each day in longing. One day, a green peacock flew into the forest. The moment their eyes met, they recognized each other, and joy reunited them.
Their love blossomed, and together they raised a brood of young peafowl whose bright feathers shimmered with life. But a sudden blizzard swept across the rainforest, plunging the animals into freezing hardship. Creatures huddled together, waiting for spring to return.
At last, the storm passed. Peacocks danced in the rising sun, and the rainforest revived.
The world renews itself, and life goes on without end.
