The O’Shaughnessy Presents: The [uncertain] Four Seasons
What will the future sound like if we don’t act now on climate change?
St. Paul, Minn. – The O’Shaughnessy presents Classical Uprising: The [uncertain] Four Seasons on Saturday, September 30 at 7:30 p.m. The [uncertain] Four Seasons is an algorithmic re-composition of Vivaldi’s ‘The Four Seasons’ and was developed by composers, musicians, climate and computer scientists using geospatial climate predictions for 2050 on St. Paul. Part performance, part community event, The [uncertain] Four Seasons is designed to disturb but inspire, disquiet but motivate. Like an orchestra, the action of one person can make a difference, but together, we can make a movement.
This project is produced in partnership with Minnesota Opera. Members of the MN Opera Orchestra will join Classical Uprising’s soloist, GRAMMY-nominated violinist Jesse Irons, to perform this piece under Dr. Emily Isaacson’s musical direction. Additionally, St. Kate’s students (Sofia Vanderlan, Naomi Stewart and Ivana Makor) will be performing original poetry on the topic of environmental justice and will be underscored by the chamber orchestra.
After the performance, audience members will be invited into the lobby to visit and engage with local environmental justice nonprofit organizations to learn more about advocacy, volunteer, and other change-making opportunities. CFAC Cross-Campus Food Access Coalition, Food Access Hub, Fresh Energy, ISAIAH, Metro Food Justice Network and Women’s Environmental Institute will be onsite. These nonprofits are all currently in partnership with St. Catherine University through the Office of Scholarly Engagement and Community Work and Learning offices.
Run time for this production is 60 minutes with no intermission. Tickets can be purchased online at oshag.stkate.edu, by phone at 651-690-6700 or in person at our Ticket Office at 2004 Randolph Ave, St. Paul, MN.
