Cantus and Cantus in Concert
The run time is approximately 2 hours with a 15 minute intermission. Cantus joins forces with Cantus, the Norwegian women’s choir of the same name, for a can’t-miss concert of audience favorites! Perhaps best known to American audiences for their musical contributions to Disney’s Frozen, the Trondheim-based Cantus is an award-winning 30-member chorus under the direction of Tove Ramlo-Ystad. Continuing our popular format of collaborative concerts, both ensembles will sing separately and together, offering audience members of all ages a rich and varied concert experience that highlights the versatility of vocal music!

MPLS, ComMUSICation and Hosted by Great Northern UnionAs one of the top men’s barbershop choruses, we formally adopted a goal to move beyond our all-male legacy and to use exquisite harmony to cooperate unselfishly and express their authentic selves.With “ChoirsAlive!” we are sure that we can use harmony as a healing practice and connector for all individuals and communities.Starting with the Twin Cities area, our goal is to collaborate with more chorus groups to empower all communities, all genders, all people.

Fanfares, marches, and jubilant melodies open our 30th anniversary season in the Festive Overture of iconic American composer William Grant Still. Nino Rota, composer of film music for The Godfather parts I and II, brings his dramatic gifts to the concert stage with the playful and lyrical Concerto for Bassoon, featuring MPO’s own Brian Hadley.
