McKnight Presents: SOLO: Six World Premiere Solos by the 2022 and 2023 McKnight Dancer Fellows

Please note: This performance features partial nudity. Viewer discretion is advised.Each year three exceptional Minnesota dance artists receive the coveted honor of a McKnight Dancer Fellowship. To celebrate them, we commission a solo dance for each of them from a choreographer of their choice. The 2022 & 2023 Dancer Fellows have selected an outstanding group of local, national and international dance artists to bring their choreographic imaginations to new and reimagined works expressly tailored for these exceptional performers. How Hitler influenced the writing of The Screwtape Letters. How his profound insights on the divinity of Christ, prayer, heaven, and the Second Coming influenced The Chronicles of Narnia. Our annual runway showcases the hard work that the fashion design and merchandising students created. Highlights include the senior capstone collections, the junior mini-collections, and sustainable, creative designs throughout the program. Katwalk will have two showings. Choose from two showtimes one at 5:00 p.m. and another at 7:00 p.m. A reception follows the final show giving guests an opportunity to chat with the designers and see their work up close. Our up-and-coming designers make this a runway a show you won’t want to miss. The approximate run time of the event is 105 minutes with a fifteen minute intermission. James Sewell Ballet leaps onto the stage with bold new works. Featured is the highly-anticipated choreographies of two guest choreographers and old friends of the company. Shohei Iwahama (former JSB dancer and current member of Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo) brings an expansive group work that emanates curiosity, play, and kinship. And Michael Walters returns with his fourth choreographic commission with a passionate duet, at moments both gritty and gentle. This remarkable evening includes two Sewell works: a new sextet that blends classical and contemporary ballet within Bach’s ‘Concerto for Violin & Oboe’; and a remount of ‘Doo-Be-Doo’, which combines high-energy playful antics with stunning technical feats. *For patrons who would like to control the volume of their listening experience, assistive listening devices and sensory ear plugs are available upon request at the Ticket Office.
