Phoenix Chinese Dance Academy Presents: Voyage Along The Yellow River
The approximate run time of the event 130 minutes plus a 15 minute intermission. The Yellow River, the Mother River of the Chinese nation. She awakens from the snow-capped Bayan Har Mountains, carrying the breath of the yellow earth, carving through rugged mountains and surging into vast plains. More than a geographical artery, she is the cradle of civilization— For five thousand years, her waters have witnessed collective joys and struggles, and the lives of countless people have flourished along her shores. Tonight, let dance be our vessel. We’ll follow her current, discovering the stories of the life and culture she has nurtured. Come celebrate this annual family holiday tradition!For novices to the ballet, this holiday story begins on Christmas Eve. We join a young girl, Clara, her mischievous brother, Fritz, and their family hosting a Christmas party. A latecomer to the party is Clara’s mysterious Godfather Drosselmeyer. He presents her with a marvelous gift, a Nutcracker doll.As Clara goes to sleep that night, we are transported into her dream of the Rat King fighting the Nutcracker and his army of toy soldiers. The Nutcracker Prince escorts Clara through an enchanted snow-covered forest and on to his Kingdom of the Sweets where Clara accepts the throne from the Sugar Plum Fairy. Enjoy The return of this classic holiday favorite!
